A Single Integrated Terminal
The defining feature of Western Sydney International is that it has one terminal — the Nancy-Bird Walton Terminal — handling both domestic and international passengers. This is a deliberate departure from Sydney Kingsford Smith, where the international terminal sits kilometres from the domestic ones.
For passengers it means no inter-terminal bus, no second security screening on a connection, and one set of directions to remember. For a family or a first-time flyer, that alone removes most of the stress from the airport experience.
Built for How People Travel Now
This is a purpose-built 2020s airport rather than a facility extended piece by piece over decades. Security screening, wayfinding and passenger flow were designed together, for the volumes and technology of today.
The terminal also has the Sydney Metro station box already constructed into the building, ready for the Western Sydney Airport line expected mid-to-late 2027. Until then, ground transport is by road — see all transport options.
What To Expect at Nancy-Bird Walton

Check-in and Security
Domestic and international check-in sit within the same building. Allow about 90 minutes before a domestic departure and three hours for international.

Arrivals and Baggage
After baggage claim you exit into the arrivals area and out to the ground transport zone, where your Ram’s driver meets you following an SMS or WhatsApp message.

Connectivity
Free WiFi is available in the terminal — useful for picking up your driver’s message the moment you land, before your roaming reconnects.

Ground Transport Zone
One designated zone serves pickups and drop-offs for the whole terminal. Four car parks with 6,259 spaces and EV charging sit alongside it.
