One of the most practical things to sort out before booking an airport transfer is whether your vehicle will actually fit all your bags. Nothing is more stressful than a driver arriving in an SUV for what turns out to be a family of four with four large checked bags and two carry-ons. This guide tells you exactly how much luggage fits in each of our vehicles, how to handle special items, and what to declare when you book.

Luggage Capacity by Vehicle Type

Ram's fleet covers a wide range of passenger and luggage requirements. Here is a practical breakdown of what fits in each vehicle:

Sedan (1–2 passengers)

• 2 large checked suitcases (up to 29 inch / 32 kg each)
• 2 carry-on bags or personal items
• Not suitable for: large prams, golf bags, surfboards, or 3+ large bags

The Lexus Sedan is ideal for solo business travellers, couples, or a single traveller with standard checked luggage. If you are travelling alone with just a carry-on, this is the most comfortable and efficient option.

SUV and People Mover (4–6 passengers)

• 4 to 5 large checked suitcases
• 3 to 4 carry-on bags
• Suitable for: collapsible prams, standard golf bags (declared at booking), medium-sized mobility aids

The SUV and people mover is the most popular choice for families and small groups. It offers substantially more boot space than an SUV and can handle a family's worth of luggage comfortably. This vehicle is also the recommended choice if you are travelling with children who need child seats.

Mini Bus (6–11 passengers)

• 8 or more large checked suitcases
• Multiple carry-ons and personal bags
• Suitable for: sports equipment, large group luggage, wheelchair-accessible configurations

The Mini Bus is the right choice for larger groups travelling together — sports teams, conference delegates, extended families, or corporate groups. Group Coach (13+ passengers)

• Large underfloor luggage compartments
• Suitable for major group travel with extensive luggage

Oversized and Special Items

Many passengers travel with items beyond standard suitcases. Here is how we handle the most common special items:

Golf Bags

Golf bags are welcome in our SUV, people mover, Mini Bus, and coach. A standard golf bag (travel bag included) typically requires either the front passenger seat folded or the full rear luggage area. Declare golf bags at booking so we can confirm the right vehicle — an SUV is not suitable for golf equipment.

Surfboards and Skis

Surfboards and ski equipment (particularly when in padded travel bags) are bulky items that require a Mini Bus or larger vehicle with roof-rack options or extended cargo configurations. Contact us directly when booking for these items.

Prams and Strollers

A collapsible buggy or umbrella stroller fits easily in an SUV boot alongside standard luggage. A full-size travel pram or twin pram requires the SUV or people mover. Mobility Aids and Wheelchairs

Folding manual wheelchairs can typically be accommodated in an SUV or people mover. Motorised scooters or power wheelchairs require a Mini Bus with wheelchair access provisions. Please contact us directly when booking to ensure the correct vehicle and any required equipment is arranged. We want every passenger to travel with dignity and comfort.

Musical Instruments and Fragile Items

Large instruments (cello, double bass, keyboard) should be declared at booking. In most cases an SUV or people mover will accommodate them safely. Ensure fragile items are properly cased — drivers will handle all luggage with care but cannot be responsible for inadequately packed fragile goods.

Tips for Heavy Packers

• Always declare your full luggage count at the time of booking — not just the number of passengers
• If in doubt between an SUV and an SUV, book the SUV — the small price difference is worth avoiding a cramped journey
• For international travel, remember that checked bags often come back heavier than they left — factor in any purchases or gifts you expect to bring back

What Happens If I Have More Luggage Than Expected?

If you arrive with more luggage than declared at booking and it does not fit in the booked vehicle, your driver will do their best to accommodate you, but may need to contact our operations team to arrange a second vehicle or upgrade. This can cause delays and additional costs. To avoid this, always be honest and thorough about your luggage when filling in the quote form.
