Australian child seat standards (AS/NZS 1754) require specific seat types for specific ages and weights. Rearward-facing seats for children up to 12 months. Forward-facing seats for 12 months to approximately 4 years. Booster seats for approximately 4 to 7 years. Older children sit in standard seatbelts. Vehicle Sizing for Families
The right vehicle depends on family size and luggage volume. A family of two adults plus one small child plus light luggage fits a Lexus Sedan. A family of two adults plus 2–3 children plus international luggage and a pram is best in an SUV or people mover.
