The Sydney Airport Link train connects all three terminals directly to the City Circle, running approximately every 10 minutes during peak hours. For a solo business traveller with hand luggage heading to the CBD, the train is fast, affordable, and stress-free. However, the train has real limitations that make it impractical for a large segment of airport passengers:

• It only goes to city and inner-suburb stations. Anyone heading to Western Sydney, the Hills District, the Southern Highlands, Wollongong, Newcastle, or the Blue Mountains needs to change trains — multiple times in many cases — adding significant time and carrying luggage between platforms.
• It doesn’t work for families. Managing children, prams, and multiple bags on a crowded train, then changing platforms, is a significant ordeal.
