Why Luggage Assistance Matters More Than You Think
Most travellers don't think about luggage handling until they need it. Then it becomes the most important feature of the entire transfer service. Standard rideshare and taxi etiquette is "you load your own bags" — the driver opens the boot and steps back. For young, fit, light-luggage travellers, that's fine. For elderly travellers, families with strollers and multiple cases, travellers with bulky sports equipment, or anyone with mobility limitations, that's a problem. Ram's standard practice is the opposite: driver actively assists at every loading and unloading, manages the trolley at the airport, and helps with curbside porter handover.
For elderly travellers in particular, this is non-negotiable. A 75-year-old traveller with two international cases needs a driver who walks to the front door, lifts cases into the boot, and walks her to the check-in counter at the other end. That's not a premium service in the Ram's model — it's the standard. The same applies to families with multiple young children, prams, car seats, and luggage volumes that overflow a standard SUV boot.
Vehicle Sizing for Heavy Luggage
Match vehicle to luggage volume. A solo traveller with 1 suitcase fits any vehicle. A couple with 4 cases fits an SUV tightly or an SUV comfortably. A family of 4 with international luggage (4 cases plus carry-ons plus pram) needs an SUV at minimum, more comfortably a Mini Van. Cruise and Long-Stay Luggage
Cruise passengers and long-stay travellers often carry significantly more luggage than airport-only travellers. A 14-day cruise typically means 1.5x the luggage of a typical 7-day trip — particularly for cruises with formal nights (additional formal wear). Driver Assistance for Special Needs
For travellers with significant mobility needs, advise at booking. We can arrange folding wheelchair carried in the boots, drivers trained in mobility assistance, and door-to-check-in escort for elderly or disabled travellers. There is no extra charge for standard mobility assistance. For folding wheelchair carried in the boots specifically, please book at least 24 hours in advance to ensure availability.
