Sydney Airport has three passenger terminals — T1 International, T2 Domestic (Virgin Australia and Rex), and T3 Domestic (Qantas). Each has a slightly different arrivals layout and process. This guide tells you exactly what to expect and where to go when you land, so meeting your Ram's driver is effortless. For an in-depth overview of the terminal layout, also see our terminal guide.
Terminal 1 (T1) — International Arrivals
T1 is Sydney's international terminal and handles all long-haul arrivals including flights from Asia, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, New Zealand, and the Pacific.
Step 1: Land and Taxi to Gate
After your flight lands, the aircraft taxis to a gate. Depending on the aircraft type and gate position, this can take 10 to 20 minutes. Follow signs for "Arrivals" and "Customs and Immigration."
Step 2: Immigration and Customs
Australian Border Force processes all international arrivals. Wait times vary but typically range from 15 to 45 minutes during peak periods. Biometric e-passport holders can use SmartGates to reduce wait times. After immigration, collect your checked baggage from the designated carousel. Biosecurity (customs) inspection follows — declare anything required.
Step 3: Exit to Arrivals Hall
Once you clear customs and biosecurity, you exit through the sliding glass doors into the T1 arrivals hall on the ground level. This is the public area where meeters and greeters wait.
Where Your Driver Will Be
Your Ram's driver will be standing in the arrivals hall immediately beyond the exit doors, holding a printed mobile message with your name clearly visible. The arrivals hall has a dedicated waiting area for professional drivers — look for a neat, uniformed driver holding your name.
Free Waiting Time at T1
Ram's provides 60 minutes of complimentary waiting time from the moment your flight lands. This is deliberately generous because international arrivals take time. You do not need to rush through customs. If you are delayed beyond 60 minutes due to customs queues or baggage issues, simply contact your driver directly — the number is in your confirmation.
Typical time from T1 landing to arrivals hall: 30 to 60 minutes depending on flight load and queue length.
Terminal 2 (T2) — Virgin Australia and Rex Domestic Arrivals
T2 handles domestic flights operated by Virgin Australia and Regional Express (Rex). Domestic arrivals are much faster than international — there is no immigration or customs processing.
Step 1: Land and Disembark
Follow signs for "Baggage Claim" after disembarking. Domestic baggage carousels at T2 are typically fast — bags often appear within 10 to 15 minutes of landing.
Step 2: Collect Bags and Exit
Collect your luggage from the designated carousel and proceed through the exit to the T2 arrivals area on the ground floor.
Where Your Driver Will Be
Your driver will be waiting in the T2 arrivals area beyond the baggage claim exit, messaging you directly on mobile with your name. The domestic arrivals area is compact — you will see your driver easily.
Free Waiting Time at T2
Ram's provides 30 minutes of complimentary waiting time from the moment your domestic flight lands. Domestic arrivals are typically through in 15 to 20 minutes, so this is usually more than sufficient.
Terminal 3 (T3) — Qantas Domestic Arrivals
T3 is Qantas's dedicated domestic terminal. It is located separately from T1 and T2, though all three terminals are connected by the airport's free inter-terminal shuttle bus.
Where Your Driver Will Be
For T3 arrivals, your driver will be in the T3 domestic arrivals area on the ground floor, holding your mobile message. If you are arriving at T3 but your booking says T1 or T2 (perhaps due to a rebooking or aircraft change), contact your driver immediately so they can move to the correct terminal — the inter-terminal shuttle is free and runs frequently.
Free Waiting Time at T3
Same as T2 — 30 minutes of complimentary waiting time from when your flight lands.
What to Have Ready When You Land
- Your booking confirmation with your booking reference and driver details
- Your driver's direct contact number (provided in confirmation)
- A working mobile phone with roaming or a local SIM if you are an international visitor
What If I Cannot Find My Driver?
Drivers very occasionally get held up by traffic or parking delays. If you exit the arrivals area and cannot see your driver:
- Check your booking confirmation for the driver's direct number
- Call or message them — they will almost certainly be on their way or just outside
- If no answer within a few minutes, contact the Ram's team via the email or number in your confirmation
- Do not leave the arrivals area or arrange alternative transport until you have spoken with us
